June 21, 2016, Kleinburg, ON – As part of its 50th anniversary season, the McMichael Canadian Art Collection has launched a new wine collection in partnership with Diamond Estates, featuring Group of Seven artworks on the bottles. The Chardonnay and Cabernet Merlot wines are available at LCBO stores, and fifty cents from every bottle sold goes to the McMichael Collection.

Recently at the 2016 Ontario Wine Awards, the Diamond Estates 2014 McMichael Group of Seven Chardonnay was awarded the gold medal in the Canadian Food & Wine Institute at Niagara College Unoaked Chardonnay Award category.

“Art and wine make the perfect pairing,” said Nick Foglia, Director of Communications, Marketing and Sales, McMichael Canadian Art Collection. “Like wine, art creates memorable experiences and evokes emotions—and that’s our very intention at the gallery. As the McMichael toasts fifty years, we are grateful to have the privilege of working with great partners, like Diamond Estates, in sharing the story of the McMichael as a place that celebrates ‘The Art of Canada.’”

“We are pleased and excited to have been chosen to partner with the McMichael to create a unique wine experience to honour the iconic Group of Seven,” said Murray Souter, President and CEO of Diamond Estate Wines and Spirits Inc. “Just as the Group of Seven are so closely associated with the Canadian north, our McMichael Collection Cabernet Merlot and Chardonnay are crafted in Niagara-on-the-Lake and closely associated with the land and people of the region.”

The wines are featured in the current issue of LCBO Food & Drink magazine (page 60), which is available for free at the LCBO.
